Machine Made Wigs

These wigs are constructed of machine-made wefts and typically synthetic hair. Though they are the most affordable wig, their popularity has declined over the years as they cannot produce the natural appearance of other wigs that are only marginally more expensive. Today they are used more for fun (like parties or a night out on the town) rather than for serious hair loss needs.

Hybrid Wigs

Hybrid wigs have become the most popular wigs for people experiencing short term hair loss through chemotherapy or other medical treatments. They are constructed with a mono-filament top with individual hairs implanted in it, creating a very natural appearance in the way the hair falls and creating the appearance of hair growing from the scalp. They have machine-made wefts around the sides and back and use adjustable elastic to secure the wig. Superior quality hair is used in hybrid wigs, compared to typical machine-made wigs, creating a more beautiful look.

Custom Made Wigs

Custom Made Wigs are for the discerning woman experiencing longer term hair loss. The appeal of custom made wigs lie in their versatility, lightness, comfort, coolness and fit.

Choice: You can have hair any way you want. Long, short, with highlights or low-lights, bi-level or all natural colour. Synthetic, Eurasian or European hair – the choice is yours!

Comfort: They are extremely comfortable because they perfectly fit your unique scalp size and contours, achieved through an advanced cranial contour analysis.

Coolness: Experience the "wind blowing through your hair" again! The technical mono-filaments create maximum "breathability," allowing you to feel the wind in your hair, rain drops on your scalp, and fingers touching your scalp.

Light: The advanced membrane fabrics are so light that you will forget that you even have it on. It is impossible to compare the difference between a custom made wig and anything lesser, such as a hybrid wig.

Life-like: The transparent membrane creates a natural scalp-like appearance of hair appearing to grow right from your scalp. Individual hairs are implanted one or two strands at a time, replicating both the look and behaviour of hair.

NEW - Follea Gripper Wigs

The new Follea Gripper wig is the next generation in wig technology, specifically designed the Alopecian community.*

No Tape, No Glue.

Unlike older style wigs, the new Gripper wig does not use tapes or glue to adhere to the scalp.  Instead, it uses a proprietary medical grade silicone that ‘grips’ to the scalp with complete security.  It is so secure that even whether you are engaged in competitive sport, at the gym, dancing, or out with your friends, you can have complete confidence.

Cool, Breathable, Light & Natural

What our clients love about the new Gripper wig is how it is cooler, lighter and more comfortable than conventional Alopecia wigs.  It features a hand tied lace top with a small open lace front to recreate a natural hairline.  Follea chose to incorporate a soft-lined, closely wefted back that passes the “hairdryer test”.  That is, if you blow a hair dryer (or strong wind) on the back of your head, you won’t see the wefts.  To accomplish this Follea have almost doubled the density in the back, top and side sections, just below the crown, compared to standard wigs.  The advantage of this design include allowing more airflow to the scalp, to keep the wearer cool, as well as letting the style to lay closer to the back of the head.  It also greatly reduces the risk of hair inverting through the cap compared to an all hand tied back.  However, if you prefer a full hand tied Gripper, these are also available as a custom made order (the Gripper Luxe) and higher price.

Sizing and Hair Lengths

The Gripper Cool is in stock or can be ordered in 3 different cap sizes.  We can also custom order – size to XXS and even smaller for children.    It is also available in 4 different layered hair lengths; 6”, 8”, 12”, 14” (the longer the hair, the higher the price). 

Gripper Sport™ Model

Gripper sport model is designed for professional or amateur athletes who still want that natural hairline.  The Gripper Sport has more ‘grippiness’ via an increase number of Follea’s proprietary medical Grade silicone strips coating each weft across the back up to the crown.  It also incorporates a closed lace front for natural appearance.  Gripper sport is only made to order.

Comparison:  Gripper Cool or Gripper Sport?

In terms of price the Gripper Cool is the most affordable Gripper wig, with fully lined machine wefted back, hand tied crown and small open lace front.  The Cool is ideal for most people with an everyday active life.  It holds exceptionally well even during workouts, jogging or dancing.  The Gripper Sport is moderately more expensive, is made to order only and features Follea’s proprietary medical-grade silicon-coated machine made wefts up to the crown.  This model is better suited to more dynamic sports (but like any high quality human hair wig, it is not recommended for swimming – why chance damaging such beautiful hair?). 

Hand Processed European Hair

Gripper Cool and Sport are made with Follea’s famous high quality European hair (all double drawn pony tail hair) that is gently processed in-house at Follea to meet their high quality control standards and colour ring specifications.  Grippers are available in our 10 most popular TruLife™ colour blends. 

* (for those who are new to this term ‘Alopecian’, it a term used amongst the community of those afflicted with the hair and skin disease Alopecia Areata, Totalis and Universalis.  It can cause partial or complete hair loss and baldness over the scalp). 

What you can expect when you come to Transitions Hair

At Transitions we are very different from a regular wig shop.

You won't find wigs on display.

Instead you will be invited to sit down in a private room with one of our accredited consultants to discuss your needs over a cup of coffee or tea. We will listen to your desires and advise on how to ensure your new hair (wig) will be correct for you.

Next, if you choose to purchase a custom made wig, we will do a contour analysis. With this we capture the exact curvature of your scalp, creating a wig that fits your head perfectly. This will take about 90 minutes.

Or, if you choose to purchase a pre-made wig, we need to ensure that it fits properly. This should take about 10 minutes. During the fitting process you'll soon discover that although many wigs are pre-styled, they rarely look how you'd like. That is because you have a unique facial shape, facial features, head size, neck length and individual ideas on how you want your hair to look (compared to the generic lengths and style of the wig). Due to this we will spend up to a couple of hours making you and your new hair look beautiful.
