Propecia
Propecia is a prescription pharmaceutical drug for baldness treatment and prevention in MEN ONLY. It was developed to treat mild and moderate male pattern hair loss on the vertex (crown-top of head) and anterior mid-scalp region (middle front of head). There is not sufficient evidence to suggest that Propecia works on receding hairlines in the temple area. After a 5 year clinical study 48% of men experienced hair regrowth, 42% experienced no further hair loss.
Propecia works for hair regrowth by reducing the amount of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a key cause of hair loss, by blocking its formation. DHT is a substance in the body that shrinks the hair follicle until it no longer produces a visible hair. [click here for more information the cause of hair loss] – go to hair loss information page.
Propecia usage for hair regrowth requires a prescription. Propecia needs to be taken daily for at least 3 months or more before you see a benefit. If Propecia has not worked for you within 12 months, further treatment is unlikely to be of benefit. Propecia must continue to be taken if you desire to see positive results for positive hair regrowth. If you stop taking Propecia you will likely lose any hair you have gained within 12 months.
Propecia is for MEN ONLY. Women should not take Propecia it can have adverse side effects.
